08/10/2009 - Spouse_name: Ron

College_info: BS - TWU - Elementary Education & Special Education

MS - TWU - Special Education Administrative/Principal Certification - UNT

Family_info: 2 daughters - Meredith (Pate) Sather, 28 yrs. old. Meredith is a licensed Esthetician. She is currently a stay at home mom with her husband and two daughters (Eleanor - 4 & Larkin - 2) Megan (Pate) Livengood, 23 years old. Megan has a BS in Social Sciences from UNT. She is a High School teacher. My husband Ron has 2 children from his previous marriage. Collectively, we have 7 grandchildren.

Job_info: I have always been in education. I was a teacher for many years and am now an Elementary Principal. This is my 34th year as an educator. I love what I do, so I doubt that I retire anytime soon.

Hobbies: Overseeing a school with 800 students keeps me very busy. When I do have spare time I love to read, shop, and travel. I enjoy taking walks and being with friends. I am very active with my church - I teach a young adult Sunday School class, Children's Church, and Bible drama at VBS.

Influence: I loved all of my teachers at North Dallas. My fondest memories are of Mr. Densmore (he gave me the courage to be a leader), Mr. Bolton (he challenged me not to be afraid of math), Mr. Watson (helping me to find the "drama queen" inside me), Mrs. Goltz (encouraging me to go to college and to consider the field of Special Education) I was greatly influenced by the role of Student Council President thrust upon me by the untimely death of Steve Alba. I also had great fun being an officer in the Vikingettes and a member of the ND Speakers.

Things_Different: I would never "go steady" with just one guy. I would date more people and simply have fun.

Friends: Kathy Nowell, Janet Vinson, Brenda Forbis, Myrna Monroe, Pam Barrow, Jessie Velez

Comments: I learned to live in the "real world" at North Dallas High School. I am grateful for the quality education I received and the incredible people that I was blessed to go to school with everyday. There is no other High School that I would have chosen to go to.

11/15/02 - College info: Tyler Junior College-Associates in Education. University of Texas at Tyler-Bachelor of Science (Speech Communication-major, Journalism-minor). Family info: Son-Corey W. Jones, graduated from Mesquite High June, 2002, currently attending Eastfield Junior College, Mesquite. I am the Senior Vice Commander for the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 175, Mesquite. I am also involved in various activities within Mesquite (i.e.: Symphony Association, Arts Council). Influence: Dr. Densmore, my vocational education teacher, had a great deal of influence on me. Through the school/work program I was able to "see a future", to envision being able to support myself, pursue future goals.  Also attending North Dallas in 1968-69 felt comfortable. Many of the kids there, like me came from single parent homes, low incomes. We had a lot in common and I felt for the first time in all my years in school that I was not "different" that I was like others.  That I had a "chance" in life. I met some incredible friends who shared a lot with me. Things Would Do Different: I would have studied more, tried to apply for colleges, talked to the counselor more. Comments: I am honored to have been a small part of NDHS. It made a huge difference in my life that year.  I am so proud of what NDHS is today and how it continues to educate kids and to help them see that the future is theirs and they can do anything they want if they just try.

Friends: My best friend was Deborah Powers and we still see each other at least once or twice a month.  She still looks the same. Comments0: I really loved going to North Dallas.  I transferred over from Thomas Jefferson right after I started my Sophomore year and I was so scared. I didn't want to go to North Dallas, but after about the first week, I fell in love with it.  Everyone was so nice and not stuck up like at T.J. I would never trade the experience I had a N.D. for NOTHING.  It was great.  To me the North Dallas Bulldogs are the BEST!
