Well, here is the explanation from Noel Garland - "(Big) Carol Dale Hudspeth and Hal Hudspeth, her brother are in the picture, he was two years ahead of our class, now a US Federal Judge out in El Paso or Austin, he also graduated from ND in 1952. Carol Dale was called "Big" to keep she and Little Carol Dell Hudspeth in the front row separated in the conversations amongst our elementary school classmates. Big Carol went to Highland Park, and was in her first year at SMU when she was killed in an automobile accident on North Central.
